Theo’s Roundtable – Awards For Sale
By Chris Heinonen on
After a few weeks of having trouble coming up with anything to write about for Theo’s Roundtable, a series of events has left me with lots and lots to talk about there. Today I venture into the process of handing out awards to equipment. Often this goes by without much notice, but then I saw one site giving out awards to equipment, sight unseen, based just on the spec sheets. Worse yet, they made companies or their PR firms pay to even have their gear considered. I’d say that’s a bit dirty, or at least a grab for cash.
So how do I decide if I want to give an award so someone from the various outlets that I contribute to? Do I have one overriding criteria that comes before everything else, or is it a balancing act that I have to do? My whole process is laid out over at Theo’s Roundtable in this latest blog, “Awards For Sale”, but needless to say money has nothing to do with any of my process. I also need a new button that says “Read the Article” as well it seems.
