Yamaha announces YAS-108 sound bar
Yamaha YAS-108 Sound Bar Packs Powerful Performance and Accessible Price into Streamlined, Stylish Design
BUENA PARK, Calif. (June 18, 2018) — Yamaha is introducing an elegant, powerful reimagining of its best-selling sound bar with today’s unveiling of the YAS-108. The new sound bar’s low profile, single-chassis design and simple TV connections integrate easily and unobtrusively with today’s flat-screen TVs, making it a worthy successor to the popular YAS-107.
With an ultra-slim design and rounded ends, the YAS-108 lends an air of sophistication to home-theater systems whether the bar is mounted on a wall via its built-in keyholes or placed on a cabinet or shelf. In addition, because it is just over two inches in height, the sound bar fits discreetly in front of a TV without blocking the screen.
With all the latest connectivity options — including HDMI®, optical and analog audio — the sound bar integrates easily with any TV. Notably, the sound bar’s HDMI output incorporates an audio return channel (ARC) to receive stereo and multichannel audio from over-the-air TV broadcasts and from smart TV video-streaming apps — making an additional cable connection unnecessary.
With out-of-the-box DTS Virtual:X® 3D surround technology, the YAS-108 simplifies setup of a home theater. From the sound bar’s single, streamlined chassis, the post-processing technology creates a life-like, immersive 3D sound field that envelops you in sound that moves around and above you, all without the need for separate front-, surround- and height-channel speakers.
DTS Virtual:X technology produces convincing effects from soundtracks created in immersive object-based surround formats such as DTS:X®. The technology also creates expansive 3D sound fields from stereo and multichannel sources, including video-game consoles and mobile devices.
Further simplifying setup and minimizing its footprint, the YAS-108 features an all-in-one construction that, despite its compact size, delivers loud and deep bass without requiring a connection to a separate subwoofer. The sound bar’s two built-in subwoofers and bass-reflex port deliver clear, dynamic, full-range sound in conjunction with two dome tweeters and two woofers. The compact design makes it ideal for secondary rooms, such as bedrooms and dens.
Yamaha has also enhanced the sound bar’s Bluetooth functionality to make it easier to play music from Bluetooth-connected mobile devices. Because two Bluetooth devices can be connected simultaneously to the YAS-108, music enthusiasts can switch back and forth quickly and easily between two devices without having to disconnect one before playing the other.
The YAS-108 also features Yamaha Clear Voice technology, which improves the audibility and clarity of dialogue in movies and TV shows while maintaining overall sonic quality. The feature stands out during action scenes and live sports programs when background sounds might otherwise overwhelm dialogue and narration.
“Entertainment, music and gaming enthusiasts looking for a sound bar in the price range of the YAS-108 are awash in choices from TV brands and from companies offering commodity products. However, thanks to our six decades of leadership in home theater systems, the best sound will come from Yamaha,” said Robert Goedken, general manager, AV division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “The enhancements on the YAS-108 reflect our commitment to offering exceptional sound quality and value.”
