Blu-ray Pure Audio Review: John Lennon “Imagine”

Recorded and released in 1971, John Lennon’s second album Imagine is now available in the Blu-ray Pure Audio format. One of Lennon’s premiere solo albums, Imagine is a welcome addition to the small, but growing Blu-ray Pure Audio catalog. “Imagine” is such a famous song that if you haven’t heard the original then there is no doubt you have heard one of the many covers. Artists like Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Cee Lo Green along with over 140 other artists have given their personal touch to “Imagine.”

Blu-ray Pure Audio Review: Beck “Sea Change”

One of the more expensive SACD and DVD-A titles to track down has been Beck’s Sea Change.  With a high-resolution surround mix of what many feel is Beck’s best album the out-of-print title has been known to command well over $100 on Ebay. I was not smart enough to pick up a copy when it was available, but have heard it used as demo material at shows to know how good it can sound.

As one of the first Blu-ray Pure Audio titles announced I was looking forward to finally owning a copy of this myself. Even compared to the Mobile Fidelity CD and vinyl versions I already own this version is superior. Even without the surround mix I would still choose it as the best version of this album you can buy.

Blu-ray Pure Audio Review: Marvin Gaye “What’s Going On”

Coming in at #6 on Rolling Stone’s Top 500 Albums list (2012 Revision) its power and brilliance are hardly up for debate. It also has not suffered from a lack of reissues this past decade.
