Lumagen Radiance XS-3D Review

By Chris Heinonen on June 28, 2012

When I looked at the Lumagen Radiance Mini-3D last year, I was very impressed by it.  It was a piece of hardware that made every other component better, and let you fine tune your display to perfection.  After that quick look I wanted to see what all I could do with the larger Radiance XS-3D and Lumagen has nice enough to help me out.  Though the performance should be equal to the Mini3D when it comes to calibration, the number of inputs and automation available are far greater than the Mini provides.

For those with only a couple of devices, or that want to route everything though their receiver or processor the Mini3D might be the way to go.  For those that really want to eliminate all possible issues in the signal chain, you will probably want to step up to the XS model to get the multiple HDMI outputs, analog video processing, and more HDMI inputs so that the only signal going to your receiver or processor is the audio while video goes straight to you display.  I really found the Lumagen Radiance to be one of the best video components I have used, and one that I would highly recommend to anyone that wants to get the best performance out of their home theater.
