Sony 46HX929 Review – LED-backlit array LCD HDTV

By Chris Heinonen on August 13, 2012

At CES this year Sony did a revamp of their entire HDTV lineup, except for the HX929 line.  Launched last year, the HX929 line is an LED-backlit model that sits at the top of their lineup.  Equipped with an array of LEDs that allow for precise light control over the LCD panel, the 46HX929 can produce blacker-blacks that traditional edge-lit models and compete more directly with plasma displays.

With a full array of SmartTV applications as well, a wide variety of adjustments, and a stellar design, did Sony do enough right that the HX929 is still a top performer now, a year after its launch?  I have a full review at Secrets of Home Theater up today of the Sony 46HX929, including before and after calibration benchmarks, as well as the debut of motion testing benchmarks that are beyond what anyone else is doing at the moment.  Go read my Sony 46HX929 review and see what Sony has managed to produce.
