“The Martian” unfortunately is only DTS-HD MA 7.1 and not Dolby Atmos. Fox has not authored any UHD-BD in the advanced audio formats as yet. Which really stinks and takes away a big upgrade incentive.

This is fantastic! Thank you! I’d love to get a sense for which of these titles, if I own the blu-ray, are worth upgrading to UltraHD for and which are not. I get some sense for that in the notes, but still can’t tell definitively.

  Nope, Valerian has a 2K digital intermediate. It was shot on an ARRI at 2.8K or 3.4K resolution, not on an Alexa 65 as it isn’t listed as a feature film for that camera at the ARRI website.

Hopefully they’ll start recapturing/remastering some more classic films from 35mm. Close Encounters was the only one I found at BB. Not a lot out there for people who aren’t into special effects movies at the moment, but I’m hoping that will change. Would love to see stuff like Taxi Driver, The Shining, The Godfather, Casablanca, anything David Lynch, Woody Allen, Kubrick, Cronenberg, Ridley Scott, The Coppplas, Wes Anderson, Scorsese, Cohen Brothers etc.. That stuff would be sublime on a giant screen in hi-res.

Preserving older titles so people can experience them with more clarity (and not be left in the dust) was always a huge plus for new formats in my book. Sicario and the original Blade Runner are next on my list! Thanks for the info!
